Hey, it's Memorial Day, so thank you to all the people who risk(ed) their ass so that I can sit on mine.
This is incredibly awkward, but cute.
Time to get back to that BBQ,

A gypsy wedding
There are few words with these photographs, so you can make up your own back story.
A hoop skirt is carried through the streets.
A few people enjoy the feast - the others look on enviously.
Too much beer?
None of the people involved look very thrilled about this big day. Maybe it's a cultural difference, or maybe it's just hard to live in this village. At least the kids look like they're having fun.
I hope you have fun this Memorial Day Weekend! Try not to look glum in pictures. Unless that's your thing.

A baseball themed wedding
Apparently baseball is popular amongst my friends? I had no idea until this week when my Facebook page lit up with pictures and posts about their favorite teams. Baseball is cool. The games have hot dogs and beer and peanuts and ice cream and...
There are many photos of this beautiful wedding, but here are my favorites.
The lovely couple - Nicole and Josh
Getchur candy here!
Guests signs bats and balls instead of a photo frame or guest book
I was skeptical about the baseball-filled vases, but I think they work? They did a really nice job with the color scheme.
Love this awesome backdrop for silly guest photos! They're going to have a hilarious photo album.
And of course, the cake. It's not baseball themed, and it was a smart move. If absolutely everything screams baseball, the theme gets tired.
Even though I'm pretty indifferent to baseball (and sports in general), I love this wedding. They obviously weren't working on a shoestring budget, and it shows. Everything is straight out of a magazine.

Biker wedding
For two [Wisconsin motorcycle ] riders, this year's MDA (muscular dystrophy association) ride was extremely special. A man and women traded in their leather for formal wear and tied the knot. Even though the sun was shinning the sound of thunder filled the air as one bike after another rolled into Wittenberg for a very unique wedding.
Sorry, apparently the video won't embed. Here's the link.
For Wes and Carla this was exactly what they wanted, they turned in the satin runway and carriage for leather and Harley's. Wes says, "In spring we were actually going to elope but that didn't work out."
And probably for the better, instead Wes and Carla not only got the wedding of their dreams but were able to celebrate the mates they had been searching for all their lives. Carla says, "He made my life a 100 percent better when I met him."
Wes and Carla say they both ride for MDA every year and knew their friends and family would be in town today, so the wedding couldn't have been more perfect.
Surprisingly, I think this is the first motorcycle wedding I've posted here. They're a cute couple - my only complaint is that the groom didn't take his sunglasses off for the wedding.
And isn't it funny to watch local news from other states? Maybe it's because I get the LA news; I'm used to polished sets with surgeon-sculpted news reporters. It's refreshing to see a real face behind the desk.

My ex-wife's wedding dress
If another celebrity couple announces that they're renewing their vows, I'll scream.
This guy's wife left him after 12 years, and she didn't take her wedding dress with her. Then his sister-in-law joked that he could find 101 uses for an old wedding gown and myexwifesweddingdress.com was born. Since she's his EX-wife, he is less than respectful to this garment of love:
Jumprope (skip to about halfway)
Scarecrow
Gas cap for his car
He's only on #19, so I'm sure there will be some even crazier uses suggested as his site gains popularity.
Have a great weekend!

Tokyo couple is married by a robot
Japan has hosted the world's first wedding conducted by a robot.
The automated creature, known as the I-Fairy, oversaw the wedding of Tomohiro Shibata and Satoko Inoue in the capital, Tokyo. The couple decided to use the robot as they are both connected with Japan's thriving robotics industry. Since robots had brought them together in the first place, they said, having one officiate at their wedding was a natural choice.
During the ceremony, I-Fairy - which has flashing eyes and plastic pigtails - instructed the groom to lift the bride's veil for the kiss. The wedding took part in a rooftop restaurant in the Japanese capital.
There's another video at the source if you're interested.
The bride's trailing bouquet is gorgeous, and the little robot looks...pretty? with the flowers on her head.

UP themed engagement photos
This is adorable and lovely - a couple styled their engagement session after Disney-Pixar's UP. If you're anything like me, you cried through the first thirty minutes of the movie. And if you're really like me, you pulled your hood over your head so that nobody would see.
Here's the inspiration, in case you're some kind of weirdo that didn't see Up.
And here are the pictures - they did a great job interpreting the mood and the colors of the movie.
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to spend an afternoon with me? If the activity has any type of distractions, or if it requires you to concentrate, this is me on the left, and you on the right:
Seriously.
Distractedly yours,
Kay Ban...shiny!

Worst wedding DJ ever
There's not a lot I can add to this video - the DJ is singing (drunkenly, horribly) over a terrible song, then he calls the wedding party and guests up to the dance floor and then...wtf.
Why does she stand there? Maybe she's too embarrassed to do something, or she doesn't want to make a scene at a wedding? I hope she took him out back and drummed his nuts with her fists...

Wedding Dress Dissolves in Water
Fashion and engineering students at a British university have come up with an answer about what to do with wedding dresses after the big day: dissolve it in water. Students at Sheffield Hallam University developed a wedding dress [seamed with] joints that will dissolve, transforming the dress into five new pieces that can be used after the dress is worn, according to The Telegraph.
The dresses are the focus of A Sustainable Marriage, a new exhibition at the university. "The students wanted to challenge the notion that a wedding dress should only be used once and aimed to explore modern society's attitudes towards throwaway fashion," fashion design lecturer Jane Blohm said in a release . "The wedding gown is perhaps one of the most iconic and symbolic garments in humanity's wardrobe and represents the challenges of throwaway fashion."
According to The Telegraph , the dress has polyvinyl alcohol, a biodegradable substance used in laundry bags and washing detergents. The substance is knitted into the fabric and dissolves into the water without hurting the environment. Wedding dresses may cost hundreds – if not thousands – but may never be worn again.
The catch, the Telegraph stated, is brides may want to make sure to have an umbrella handy if their wedding day looks like rain.

I like the sustainable marriage idea! I'm always a fan of re-using, and not going beyond my means. Melting stitches aren't the best idea ever, but I'm sure some smarty-pants can figure out an ingenious usage for them.
For now, I don't want to wear anything that could potentially leave me bare-assed in front of all my friends and family.

It's all about the (mother of the) BRIDE!
Now that Mother's Day is over, we can all admit that while Moms are great, they can also be kind of annoying.
From Passive-Aggressive notes:
Katie in Oklahoma City was cleaning out a box of wedding memorabilia when she rediscovered this note from her mother, written just after she paid for Katie’s wedding dress.
Although I know a lot of brides who would have immediately ripped this card (and the enclosed check) to bits, Katie accepted the gift with impressively good humor. “I found it funny,” she says, “because it’s just the way my Mom is. She signed my Dad’s name too, but it’s from her...just her.”
“Oh, and just FYI,” Katie adds, “I think I weighed 115 pounds at the time this note was written.”
Dear Katie,
You are beautiful now. We are sure you will be a beautiful bride. To help insure our wedding dress investment, please buy some scales of your choosing with this money and weigh yourself once a week. We love you and want you to enjoy your wedding day. This present might help with some of the stress.
With love,
Mom & Dad
Haha, oh moms! I'm off for breakfast...maybe some bacon, eggs, a waffle or two, a piece of toast, some juice...

A mish-mash of random wedding photos
This is the last day of weird wedding photo week, and I've saved the strangest for last.
Ever wanted to pose for photos in front of a portable toilet? These people did.
Look closely, this couple is almost naked. Their clothing is mostly painted on. Pretty cool! Until the bride realizes that grabby Uncle Lester is sitting in the front row.
I would bet a lot of money that this is from Japan. I love you Japan! Never change! But, um, which one is the groom?
Hope you've enjoyed all the weird wedding photos. If you see any others please remember to send them my way!
xoxo,
Kay Banks

Weddings for country folk
Or, as they are more commonly known, white trash.
This bride is clearly playing up her white trash roots with that cigarette. A good bridesmaid would have brought her a beer to complete the look, but she's probably in the bathroom, puking.
How about this tractor wedding? It wasn't enough to just take photos with their tractor, they used it as their ceremony's focal point. They must be farmers.
And then there's this bride. It's not enough that she's ending her own life of freedom by getting married, she had to take this turkey (?) with her. I have to say that I love the matching hat and boots, though.

Alcohol-inspired weddings
In honor of that great drinking holiday Cinco de Mayo, here are some weddings that were fueled by alcohol.
Oh, Canada. Only the polite people of Canada would build a wedding arch out of mini-kegs. I'll bet the groom and the bride's dad cooked this one up together.
Ugh.
I probably should have been collecting wedding photos rich with the tradition of Mexico instead of these...but I stand by my decision. You're probably so drunk that you'll never notice anyway.

Random geek wedding photos
Continuing the week of photos and made-up back stories, here are some geeky wedding photos.
These two put some thought into their masks - hers matches her ivory gown. But obviously they spent all their money on head wear because neither of them is wearing a ring.
I have no made-up back story for these two, but I wouldn't let Slave Leia upstage me at my own wedding. They look like they might be sisters though, so maybe this is just a continuation of a lifelong competition.
I'm not sure what's happening here, but it looks like Wonder Woman is officiating this ceremony, and it looks like Superman is going to crap his pants.
Would you believe that this is a different wedding for Superman? Superman, and his boy-best man Robin are getting hitched to a normal girl (Lois Lane) and her bridesmaid Wonder Woman? I'm annoyed that the bride isn't dressed up too!

Weird wedding photos
This week, I thought I'd show you some of the random funny wedding pictures that I've found online. Few of them have any back stories, but I like to make up my own.
I'm not quite sure what's happening in this picture, but clearly she is unhappy, and he is, as my English cousins say, a wanker. Undoubtedly, he's talking to his frat boys about the latest college football game.
When the bride got these wedding photos back, I'm sure she was regretting letting her little brother be a groomsman.
This corpse bride and groom seem to have died shortly after their boring ceremony. That's what they get for having a summer ceremony sans air conditioning.
I like to think that I'm pretty open-minded, but I disapprove of this shameful shotgun wedding.
