Do you recognize this painfully gorgeous woman?
Her name is Yvonne DeCarlo - sometimes known as Lily Munster.
Yvonne DeCarlo was married only once in her life to Bob Morgan. They were married on November 21, 1955 when they decided to elope in Reno. Yvonne was given away by Rory Calhoun. (Just look at him! Walking like a little Rory Calhoun! 10 points to anyone who gets that)

She looks so tiny next to him! I don't know the precise details, but I can definitely tell this was a spur-of-the-moment type thing. While they both look glowy and hysterically happy, they're both quite casual - especially for 1955. Not that she needs anything to make her look beautiful. Again, PAINFULLY gorgeous. He's really handsome too - he looks so all-American.
The two met while working on a movie called Shotgun - she was one of the leads, and he was a stuntman. In 1962 Bob was seriously injured on the set of a movie -his legs were run over by a train. She stopped working to help him regain health until they realized that they could no longer live without an income. Their marriage had been rocky before the accident, but they grew closer as she nursed him back to health. The effect was only temporary though, and they divorced in 1968. They had two children together.
If you're interested, the Munsters ran from 1964-1966, but her biggest film role was in The Ten Commandments. She starred opposite Charlton Heston as Sephora, the wife of Moses.
Throughout her career Yvonne was linked to many famous men, but none more interesting (to me) than Howard Hughes.
If you're interested in learning more about Yvonne DeCarlo and her many amours, you can buy her autobiography. She specifically mentions 22 of her lovers including the Shah of Iran and a German baron. Get 'em girl!

She is rad and one of the most beautiful women ever! All of this info is very interesting. Also, I wonder if that's where Sephora (the store) got the name. Wife of Moses, eh?

P.S. How can I shoot them when they're standing there on their hind legs like a couple of Rory Calhouns? Haha, I say that all the time!
I was wondering that too (about Sephora)! If Sephora was supposed to be the canon of beauty, they did a good job with castin Yvonne DeCarlo, and with naming the store.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you go the Rory Calhoun part - I should have known you'd get it :)
