Wedding panties photo wins award

I really just want to share this story because of the bride's beautiful shoes.

A saucy snap of a bride with her knickers around her ankles has helped a wedding photographer scoop a prestigious award.

Michael Dearden's shot of 38-year-old Angela Lancaster landed him UK Master Photographer of the Year 2010 at this year's Master Photographer awards. Angela said: "We had an Alice in Wonderland themed wedding and wanted to show that in an off-the-wall way.

"I knew Michael's pictures could be quite risque.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, panties. Who can see panties when the bride is wearing flower-encrusted mary janes? Excuse me while my teenage heart goes pitter patter.

"My husband was shocked because the first he knew about it was when he saw the proofs of the pictures."

The black and white image was taken at Angela's wedding to Gareth Thomas, 39, in Cardiff this year. It was said by judges to "push the creative boundaries" of photography. Michael, of Caerphilly, South Wales, also won best Contemporary Wedding Photographer at the Birmingham ceremony.

That photo won the Contemporary Wedding award and UK Master Photographer of the Year.

Here's the Classical Wedding winner Mark Bryce:

This photo is really beautiful too. I absolutely love the modest tea-length gown with the full skirt and GLOVES! So traditional and beautiful.

Well, that's enough wedding porn for today. Enjoy your weekend!

UP themed engagement photos

This is adorable and lovely - a couple styled their engagement session after Disney-Pixar's UP. If you're anything like me, you cried through the first thirty minutes of the movie. And if you're really like me, you pulled your hood over your head so that nobody would see.

Here's the inspiration, in case you're some kind of weirdo that didn't see Up.

And here are the pictures - they did a great job interpreting the mood and the colors of the movie.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to spend an afternoon with me? If the activity has any type of distractions, or if it requires you to concentrate, this is me on the left, and you on the right:

Seriously.

Distractedly yours,

Kay Ban...shiny!

A mish-mash of random wedding photos

This is the last day of weird wedding photo week, and I've saved the strangest for last.

This three-week-old human waste hardly smells!
Ever wanted to pose for photos in front of a portable toilet? These people did.

No, I'm NOT cold. What are you implying?
Look closely, this couple is almost naked. Their clothing is mostly painted on. Pretty cool! Until the bride realizes that grabby Uncle Lester is sitting in the front row.

otaku desu ne?
I would bet a lot of money that this is from Japan. I love you Japan! Never change! But, um, which one is the groom?

Hope you've enjoyed all the weird wedding photos. If you see any others please remember to send them my way!

xoxo,

Kay Banks

Weddings for country folk

Or, as they are more commonly known, white trash.

If I leave here tomorrow...
This bride is clearly playing up her white trash roots with that cigarette. A good bridesmaid would have brought her a beer to complete the look, but she's probably in the bathroom, puking.

With this shotgun safety, I thee wed
How about this tractor wedding? It wasn't enough to just take photos with their tractor, they used it as their ceremony's focal point. They must be farmers.

One down, one man to go
And then there's this bride. It's not enough that she's ending her own life of freedom by getting married, she had to take this turkey (?) with her. I have to say that I love the matching hat and boots, though.

Alcohol-inspired weddings

In honor of that great drinking holiday Cinco de Mayo, here are some weddings that were fueled by alcohol.

Let's get married, eh?
Oh, Canada. Only the polite people of Canada would build a wedding arch out of mini-kegs. I'll bet the groom and the bride's dad cooked this one up together.

Then I'll do a shot off my pappy's stomach
Ugh.

I probably should have been collecting wedding photos rich with the tradition of Mexico instead of these...but I stand by my decision. You're probably so drunk that you'll never notice anyway.

Random geek wedding photos

Continuing the week of photos and made-up back stories, here are some geeky wedding photos.

Preppy stormtrooper is the new black
These two put some thought into their masks - hers matches her ivory gown. But obviously they spent all their money on head wear because neither of them is wearing a ring.

Marriage: IT'S A TRAP!
I have no made-up back story for these two, but I wouldn't let Slave Leia upstage me at my own wedding. They look like they might be sisters though, so maybe this is just a continuation of a lifelong competition.

We are gathered here today before my invisible jet...
I'm not sure what's happening here, but it looks like Wonder Woman is officiating this ceremony, and it looks like Superman is going to crap his pants.

Holy marital woes, Superman!
Would you believe that this is a different wedding for Superman? Superman, and his boy-best man Robin are getting hitched to a normal girl (Lois Lane) and her bridesmaid Wonder Woman? I'm annoyed that the bride isn't dressed up too!

Weird wedding photos

This week, I thought I'd show you some of the random funny wedding pictures that I've found online. Few of them have any back stories, but I like to make up my own.

So then I says to Mabel, I says...
I'm not quite sure what's happening in this picture, but clearly she is unhappy, and he is, as my English cousins say, a wanker. Undoubtedly, he's talking to his frat boys about the latest college football game.

COOTIES
When the bride got these wedding photos back, I'm sure she was regretting letting her little brother be a groomsman.

Everyone knows that the ceremony is the worst part
This corpse bride and groom seem to have died shortly after their boring ceremony. That's what they get for having a summer ceremony sans air conditioning.

I think I hear the food baby kicking
I like to think that I'm pretty open-minded, but I disapprove of this shameful shotgun wedding.

Awkward stock wedding photos

I love Awkward Stock Photos, but there aren't enough wedding-related pictures for my taste. I know there must more lurking out there than just this one:

No offence to this model, but what is going on with her photos? She looks unprepared or annoyed in all of them, but there seems to be a whole series of pictures of her with just this gown and a weird expression on her face.

Every time her faced popped up, I laughed harder. Who would buy this? Is she pretending to be 10?

There are also a LOT of photos of crazy, pissed-off brides. I actually like this one. I hope I find a reason to use it in the future.

Her little balled-up fists are funny. And how about this angle? She's all up in your face - that's how you know she's mad.

This one's called "She got her man" No further snark is necessary.

I never post pictures of myself on this blog. Today's the big day - here I am with my husband on our wedding day. He's quite the wiggler, but eventually I got him in that trunk.

And lastly, these terrifying dolls. WTF.

Lazy Thursday - Photo dump

Here are some weird photos that I found on my hard drive. I don't remember where they came from, but enjoy!

This one was called "Mail Order Bride"

She looks so prissy - like that damn Veronica. I mean, don't get me wrong, Veronica is hot, but I could do without the attitude.

And now, monkeys!

Apparently there's a Lon Chaney movie I haven't seen? How did I miss this?! I love both Lon Chaney and primates!

How cute is this picture!?!? I'm totally in love with it. She's so adorable, and look at her pretty smile. Aw...

Wedding trend - loosen up!

I almost always think people need to let loose - not just on their wedding day! This article claims that a new wedding trend is to take wacky or crazy photos that highlight a couple's individuality and interests. Here are some of their examples.

She is holding squash and one onion, he is holding three tomatoes. If this photo is supposed to be indicative of their genitals, THEY HAVE PROBLEMS.

I don't get this photo - maybe it's horror-inspired? He's coming out of the cornfield and she looks like she's poised for attack. What I do love is this girl's dress - it's beautiful! I LOVE all that business going on around her butt, and the little hat just screams Goth Queen to me.

These two are cute - they look like wealthy geeks.

Despite my disinterest in sports, this one is my favorite. I love the absurdly happy look on her face as she cradles the football, and his intense concentration as he waits for the ball.

Happy first day of February!

-Kay Banks

Of course, this "trend" has been around for a while. Just look at Trash The Dress. But it's always fun to look at more wedding pictures, right?

Bizarre couple loves their bizarre photos

I almost feel guilty snarking these people twice, but I would love to know the thought behind their weird wedding photos?

Last time they were about to get down to business while listening to the world's tiniest violin, and this time they're contemplating jewelry and fruit.

Here are some theories:
They are Adam and Eve, and she's about to mess everything up by eating that apple
She lost her ring and the photographer offered to Photoshop it in over the apple
She is pregnant, and the apple represents the fruit of their love

Agnieszka and Daniel, WTFingF?

Can't touch this

Laura submitted this to Awkward Family Photos:

Says Laura: I recently photographed my sister-in-law’s wedding (my husband’s sister). I knew the window overlooked a part of the hotel’s roof, but I didn’t notice the workers until after I snapped a few pictures. When I got home and downloaded all the pictures, I couldn’t stop laughing when I saw this. Lucky for me she has a good sense of humor and allowed me to share it with you.

I love the juxtaposition of "This is my wedding day!" against "I am working in the snow". And, of course, butts are always funny.

More wedding photos from My Parents Were Awesome

This one is the absolute cutest thing ever!

Harold and Theo (short for Theodora, I presume?) They're so damn cute! I love his uniform, and her dress is so sweet. They both have the cutest expressions on their faces and that little cake is so charming. Dianne, your parents were definitely awesome!

This one is so hilariously '70s.

Martin's parents Tom and Doris were married in the world's largest and fullest glass of Brandy ever. Look at Tom's bow tie! I mean, really, how could you miss it?

Here are Arwen's parents Doug and Lois (LOTR fans. Just a guess...)

It's hard to imagine a van like that ever looking new. The couple is certainly happy - their faces make me smile. Doug is so much taller than Lois! I wonder if Arwen is short or tall.

And finally, here are Mike's parents Dick and Robin. Those are some WIDE lapels on Dick, and I'm sure that tie would be pretty hilarious if we could see the whole thing. Both their haircuts look really modern and hip by today's standards, but I really hope those lapels never come back. Their cake looks chocolate. Mmmm...chocolate.

Do you think you'll look hilarious to your kids someday? Not me. My style is ageless and timeless because I never had any style to begin with. Wah-wah.

Until tomorrow,

Kay Banks
